Chester is my brother-in-law (my wife's brother). He's been playing
drums since he started pounding on his sister's head many years ago.
He plays a hard-driving style that exposes his early worship of
John Bonham. His diversity allows him to cover rock, jazz, funk,
blues, ska, reggae, and lots more with apparent ease. Along with
his brother,
Mark Abbott,
he and I make up the
Brother-In-Law Band.
That's one of the few groups to actually get out of the studio
and play live on occasions. When the studio horn section joins
us, we become
the Horny In-Laws.
This group specializes in playing whatever we feel like at
whatever tempo feels right at the time. A highly entertaining
improvisational group.
Chester and I have been playing together for many years. He's playing
(on
Erick Goldman's drums)
on the compositions
Piece of My Heart,
Shredder,
Hate Runs Deep,
and
Got to Get Out of Here.
He'll be doing lots more work in the future in the studio.
