Born September 17 1962 El Paso Texas USA.
Son of a US Army officer, I traveled all over the world until
I was 19, then settled in San Diego California USA.
I was formally trained as an electrical engineer (BSEE 1987
from UCSD's Revelle College). I specialized in AI, and knew
six computer languages when I graduated. I can only seem to
get programming to pay (that's OK with me!), so I ended up
as a full-time programmer. I am now the "Webmaster", "InfoPath programmer"
and the "Software Librarian" for UCSD. I work in the Central Library
(looks like a ufo landed, or is taking off; see intro to "Simon and
Simon" and various episodes of "Mission Impossible" for pictures, also,
there a tiny gif at the top of this page, click it for a large picture
of the library),
and I've been here almost 6 years.
Self-taught on bass (14 years), guitar (10 years), voice (14 years),
and piano (5 years). I didn't start playing musical instruments until
I was 17 years old. That's right, I'm 34!
Because I chose bass as my first instrument, I was in bands almost
immediately. I formed and led a hard-rock outfit called Armageddon
from 1980-1983. I was in a band called the Drive-Ins
for a while, then a series of reggae and ska bands: Ganja,
Token White Boys
,
Origin
, and
Modern Zoo
. I formed, managed, and fronted all of these bands
except the Drive-Ins.
Two years ago I moved into a new place in North Park, here in San
Diego. I started moving into the back half of the 4-car garage in
late 1992. By November, I had found a drummer,
Erick Goldman, who was willing to leave
his drums set up in the studio. Quite a few thousands of dollars,
many many hours of physical labor, and almost two years later,
we have the MKB Music Studio about to release it's first recordings.
Read about the studio
philosophy here (soon).
